FT Comment: Attack on Iran will Fail - Tuesday, July 08, 2008
Britain must act to prevent an attack on Iran
By Anatol Lieven Published: July 6 2008
All the evidence suggests that an Israeli attack on Iran’s nuclear
sites would be a disaster for the greater Middle East, for the world
economy and for western security. It would not even benefit Israel,
which is adequately protected by its own nuclear deterrent. On the
contrary, by creating new links between Sunni and Shia extremism, it
would worsen Israel’s long-term chances of survival. Finally, as last
week’s remarks by Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the US joint chiefs of staff, indicated, an attack is strongly opposed by the US military. They would bear the first brunt of Iranian reprisals, since the US
would rightly be held jointly responsible by Iran, and US soldiers in
Iraq and Afghanistan are far more open to Iranian-sponsored attack than
is Israel itself.

Adm. Fallon's Resignation: It's All About Iraq - Thursday, March 20, 2008
Fallon’s Resignation: It’s All About Iraq Ardeshir Ommani, March 18, 2008
The Pentagon on March 11, 2008, announced a
not-so-unexpected resignation of Navy Admiral William J. Fallon, head of the
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) in the Middle East, overseeing the wars in Iraq
and Afghanistan and senior to General David H. Petraeus, the top American Army
commander in Iraq, and slavish follower of President George W. Bush, whose plan
is to continue the war even beyond the end of his presidential term.
Fallon’s resignation actualized just a week
after the appearance of an article in Esquire magazine that represented
the admiral as the primary opponent of Bush’s war drive against Iran. The article strongly implied that Admiral
Fallon was the firewall against Bush’s plan to attack Iran and in his absence from the top military
command, George Bush, along with General Petraeus, will now have a free hand in
launching a war on read more...

Iran’s Parliamentary Elections
Ardeshir Ommani, an AIFC* News
Analysis March 16, 2008
The latest
election for the Eighth Iranian Majlis (Parliament) took place on Friday, March
14, 2008, and according to Iran’s Interior Ministry, 65 percent of the nation’s
43 million eligible voters cast their ballots without the slightest
disturbances or mishaps that are so common in many places during elections, not
to mention the debacles in Florida’s 2000 and Ohio’s 2004 elections. Iran’s turnout was 14 percent higher
than in the 2004 Parliamentary elections when 51 percent of the voters
participated, said Hassan Khanlou, the..

Hillary - McCain team - Tuesday, March 11, 2008
In what many in the GOP came to view as the 11th Commandment, Ronald Reagan famously said," Thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican." Hillary Clinton, it would now appear, is taking his advice to heart. Not content to merely lambast the supposed inexperience of Barack Obama, Clinton's scorched-earth campaign has lavished praise on John McCain as the embodiment of a commander-in-chief. Desperate to resurrect her once-fading candidacy, it is Hillary Clinton who has sadly emerged as the embodiment of Reagan's Law.
The cries of foul from Obama supporters notwithstanding, Clinton's "3 AM" ad in the run-up to the March 4th primaries was within the usual bounds of primary competition. (Whether, of course, Senat

few years. This presentation is now available on youtube, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVWlNQxjIsc. We
urge you to spread this video far and wide!
March 19 is only a few weeks away. In order to
ensure a cohesive and powerful mass mobilization, to have thousands on the

important to come together again--to make suggestions, ask questions, and share
concerns. Another meeting has been
called and there are two dates in order to accommodate everyone. We urge you to
come to either or both of these meetings and to bring others.

IRAN, IRAQ AND THE LOGIC OF WAR
AIFC co-founder Ardeshir Ommani analyses U.S. foreign policy.....
It is well known that the hourly financial cost of the war in Iraq for the people of the U.S. is over $20 million. And it is also well known that $240 million was more than enough to re-build the bridge that collapsed into the Mississippi River in Minneapolis. In other words, one day’s cost of the war in Iraq would have paid for reconstructing the bridge and prevented the deaths of 5 confirmed, eight missing people in Minneapolis, and of four American soldiers and 100 unarmed men, women and children in Iraq. The logic that decides in favor of continuing the war and destruction is the logic of a social system that has gone parasitic and mad.

AIFC Endorses Kucinich 2008
The American-Iranian Friendship Committee (AIFC) is proud to
endorse the work of the newly formed Iranian-American Committee for Kucinich in
the 2008 Presidential Campaign. At this
critical juncture when the White House, the major bulk of the U.S. Congress
beat the drums of war against Iran,
the support of patriotic Iranians and peace-loving Americans for Kucinich, the
leading voice in the U.S. Congress for a just peace in the war-torn Middle East and for true economic and social progress at
home, is vital.

As a patriotic American with proud Iranian heritage, I carefully (re-)read your special report on IRAN with much apprehension, as I have noted how the Bush administration's antagonistic rhetoric is preparing the court of public opinion for waging yet another pre-emptive war of aggression in the Middle East in order to "redeploy" from Iraq and save face.
